Template Maintenance
The Template Maintenance option in the Tools menu allows you to add, change and delete templates for use by the Export option in the File menu. In this format, a single record (line of data) is exported for each
estimate. A template defines the data items included in the exported records,
and allows you to export estimate data for use by other applications (such as
spreadsheets, databases and mail merge in word processing programs).
This screencontains the following:
- Template Name:
This displays the name of the template defined in the remainder of the window.
Use this as follows:
- To edit an existing template, click the
button in the name field, then click on the template desired. The template
information displays in the remainder of the window.
- To create a new template, click New, type a template name, then click OK:
The name you entered displays as the Template Name:
- To delete an existing template, click the
button in the name field, then click on the template to delete. When the
template information displays in the remainder of the window, click Delete. When the following displays, click Yes to delete the template.
- Template Type:
Select the template type from one of the available types:
- Comma Separate Values: Fields are separated from one another by commas, text fields are surrounded
by quotes (").
- Fixed Length: Each field has its own fixed column length.
- Template Fields:
The left side lists the available export fields. The right side lists the
fields you have selected to include in the export records. Use this as follows:
- To select a field, first click on it in the available list to highlight it,
then click Add >. The field name moves from the available list to the selected list. Add
fields to the selected list in the order you want them in the import/export record.
- To select all fields, click Add All >>.
- To remove a field from the selected list, click on it in the selected list to
highlight it, then click < Remove. The field name moves from the selected list back to the available list.
- To remove all fields from the selected list, click << Remove All.
- To change the order of a selected field, click on the field in the selected
list, then click on the
button to move the field up in the list, or the
button to move the field down in the list.
You can create as many templates as you need. When you have finished creating
and changing templates, click Close to close the Template Maintenance screen.
