New Estimate Wizard Overview

The New Estimate Wizard uses a series of screens containing simple questions to collect the data for an estimate.

To create a new estimate using the Wizard, do one of the following:

When first starting Residential Estimator, select the "Create a New Estimate Using the Wizard" option in the startup menu, then click OK:
Click the New Wizard button () on the toolbar:
Select the New (Wizard) option in the File menu:

The screens used by the New Estimate Wizard are:

Introduction: View an explanation about how to use the Wizard.
General Information: Enter general information about an estimate, including the owner name, property address, surveyor name and address, company name and address, relevant dates including survey date, etc.
Residence Type: Select the Residence Type (Single-family Residence, Low-rise Multiple, Townhouse, Duplex).
Style: Select the Residence Style (One Story, Two Story, Split Level, etc.).
Size, Quality and Condition: Enter the total finished floor area of the residence and the number of units if the residence is a low-rise multiple, and select the quality and condition of the residence.
Age and Depreciation: Enter the effective age of the residence, and select the method you want to use to calculate depreciation.
Exterior Walls: Select up to three exterior wall types for the residence.
Roofing: Select up to three roofing types for the residence.
Heating/Cooling: Select up to three heating and cooling types for the residence.
Floor Covering: Either use the automatic floor cover allowance, or select the individual floor coverings in the residence.
Plumbing: Enter the number of plumbing fixtures and rough-ins in the residence.
Fireplaces: Select up to three fireplace types in the residence.
Foundation and Basement: Enter the percentage of the residence that has a raised subfloor (which automatically sets the percentage that has a slab). Also, if the residence has a basement, enter its size together with the sizes of any finished areas.
Garages and Carports: Select up to three garage and carport types, and enter the size of each.
Porches, Decks, Breezeways, Balconies & Stairways: Select up to two porch, deck or breezeway types and up to two balcony and stairway types, and enter the size of each.
Land and Site: Enter the land value (or site value) and site improvement cost.
Estimate Data Complete: Contains instructions on how to proceed

When using the wizard, click the Next > button to move to the next screen, the < Back button to move to the previous button. When completed with your data entry, click the Finish button to end the wizard.
