Database Maintenance
Residential Estimator automatically saves all estimates in a database named
MSREUser.mdb, located in the folder in which you installed the program (or in a
folder you specify in the Options option of the Tools menu). You should periodically make a backup copy of this database and keep
it in a safe place.
In addition, the Database Maintenance option of the Tools menu displays the following database maintenance options:
These options are:
- Repair Database: Use this option to repair the database if it becomes corrupted. This can
occur when Residential Estimator is terminated abnormally, such as when power is
lost before you have used the Exit option in the File menu to end the program. This option automatically compacts the database in
addition to repairing it.
- Compact Database: Use this option to eliminate currently unused areas in the database. This
occurs as you delete estimates from the database.
You should run these options periodically to ensure database integrity and
minimize its size.
