Customizing Field Names
Residential Estimator allows you to customize the field names that display for
each of the fields on the General Information screen.
To customize the field names, complete the following:
- Select the Customize option in the Tools menu.
- Residential Estimator displays the customization tabs. To customize field
names, click the General Information tab, then click in the Custom Label column of the field you want to customize (or press the Tab key until the cursor is in that field) and type your custom text.
For custom field names, if you precede a letter by an ampersand ("&"), that
letter will be underlined on the General Information screen. This letter can then be used as a "shortcut" key on the General Information screen, i.e., you can press this letter while holding down the Alt key to immediately move to this field. For example, if you name a field
"&State", this displays on the screen as State, and you can move to this field by
pressing S while holding down the Alt key to move to this field. You cannot use the letters B, C, R, R, O or any
letter that is already used as a shortcut key.
Example: In the following, "&Estimate ID" is customized to "&Parcel Number,"
"&State/Province" is customized to "&State" and "&ZIP/Postal Code" is customized to
"&ZIP Code":
Whenever you create a new estimate, these field names automatically display on
the General Information screen:
- When you have completed the customization, close the Customization screens by clicking Close. If you made changes and have not saved them, Residential Estimator displays
the message "Do you want to save the customization changes?"
Click one of the following buttons in response to this:
Yes to save the changes and close the Customization screens.
No to discard the changes and close the Customization screens.
Cancel to cancel the close and return to the Customization screens.
