162 Masonry Walls: Common Brick
Common brick exterior walls are made of common clay bricks, typically two rows
thick with each row grouted together. The structural requirements of the wall
determine the thickness of the bed mortar joint, usually between 1/8" and
3/4", while the design and structural requirements influence the type of bond used
in the wall.
